On April 26. 1986 an explosion in a reactor in Chernobyl caused enormous damage to the surroundings, and especially to Belarus. Belarus got 70 % of the contamination. Other countries also got a lot, among them the middle part of Norway. Unfortunately the western world seem to have forgotten this tragedy at least belarus has fought this struggle alone so far, by a few exceptions from some countries. Most of the help is done by individuals and private efforts.
