Hello everyone.
The only good thing about living in 1999 is that the 80s, which seems to be the darkset decade (in Music and Culture) after the 2nd WorldWar, are over. Being born in 1977, I'm sad never having seen what it was really like in the late 60s. I don't believe that the people were better, more clever or whatever, but they followed the right ones! But even in the 60s, the star of Pink Floyd shone brighter, no, not brighter, but in colours which were never seen before and after. My favourite Bands all released their best Albums in 1967 or 1968 (Deep Purple: Book of Taliesyn, Beatles: White Album...), so Pink Floyd within the genius SYD BARRETT (whatabout a chapter about him...?): THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN, absolutly the best thing ever heard by my ears. Unfortunatly I found nothing compareable, although Syd's solo releases and other PF stuff like Ummagumma are more or less close to it. If you have the same problem, this page might interest you: www2.whidbey.net/~mvandyke/artist.html a page about psychedelic artists. ---- A few words about this page: UU, I like it, one of my first bookmarks! Thanks for lot's of .ra! ----- Another Problem: The way of making music has changed extremly, so I don't think that we're gonna see anything like in 1967 in the future. For example concerts: Today noone just sits to the floor and listens to the music, there has to be action... in this way things like "Set the controls for the heart of the sun" couldn't be performed! And so on & on & on... (I hate Rap!!! I wonder how it could have happend that it's now heard everywhere!) ---- Greetings to everyone who likes being greeted by my!

Great! I really love albums like Animals, Wish or The Wall - but for me
Pink Floyd that's their arty and psychedelic time before the intellectual Dark Side.
Some 13 years ago Albums like Piper, Saucerful and especially Ummagumma
changed my entire life I think. Since then I'm looking for another band that
can close up with them - I've collected about 1000 CDs and still: no chance!
Greatest epic ever made: Echoes!!
Q: In the booklet of the bootleg "From Underground to the Moon" it is written
that the songs on this album recorded in Pompeii are not the ones recorded
in the film but on a public concert they held there before. But I really can't
hear any differences between "Underground" and "Pompeii". Was the film made
after and on the base of these recordings? - Seems quite impossible to me.

like the person before me, i definately agree that syd is often over-looked. i read an incredible biography about him called, Crazy Diamond -- Syd Barrett and the Dawn of Pink Floyd. i highly reccommend it to any Floyd fan. anyways, unlike lots of people, i don't have a favorite member, although, i respect gilmour, wright, and mason the most for keeping the legacy going. water$ seems to have forgotten that it's all about the music, and not $$$. that's too bad, it would be quite interesting to see where they'd be with him. to the people that only think the wall or dsotm are the only albums PF did, break out the plastic, and experiment dammit!

I am so glad that someone finally dedicated a page to the early floyd - an era which is too often over looked. Sure, DSOTM and The Wall are great albums - but Syd's legacy continues to decline. In fact, most pink floyd fans have little idea who he is! Many regard him as "the guy who left the group early on". What? Syd got the floyd started - and anyone who calls him an acid casualty is just plain wrong. Syd's declining mental state was thrown over the edge by the acid, yes, but many agree that he would've gone over the edge anyway. (i.e. if it hadn't been the acid it would've been something else.) Thank you for one of the best floyd pages on the net - i am thoroughly impressed.

My favorite albums of PINK FLOYD are well.... all of them! But something isnt right about the band these days; I personally think that the Floyd needs Waters & Barrett back with them... if not Barrett then just Waters since Syd is a bit weird from his drug use in the past.

To me, Pink Floyd is a way of resetting myself. I doubt the world would be the same if Waters, Barrett, Mason and Write had set out on their crazy voyage.

Few bands stay for a while. Few are legends.
Pink Floyd will never die,
and we are just the one that keep them strong,
and secure the fact that great bands are legendery.

Pink Floyd is the best band that has ever graced our ears,
I would also like to say, They are not "Rock n' Roll", they
are Pshycadelia, Roger Waters said "We don't consider our
selfs as a Rock and Roll band, we are just musicians playing
our music". So Live on TRUE FLOYDIANS, and to the rest of
the So-called Floydians, Go buy a Good rock and roll CD like
Hanson.

I would just like to ask if you could set "a Time to talk" as one would put it. Anyway, My concern is every Time I open into a chat room nobodies there, but if you left Times to talk people would know someone should be there. Thank you for your Time.< /b>

Thanks very much for giving me the opportunity to listen to unreleased Syd number "vegetable man". After having read about the existence of this song in a magazine article a couple of years ago I had assumed that I would never hear it and that it would just be one of those unreleased myths like the Beach Boys' "Smile" sessions. I'm really happy to have heard it now. It's typical of Syd's style and has the makings of a great song, especially the first half. Thanks again.

I love Pink Floyd. I sit and listen to early Floyd while eating my pellets. Of all the websites I have visited, this is my favourite. It is definately the most g.pig-oriented. I'm glad I got a chance to visit!! Wish I had more time, but it's time for a treat (Bananas are a close second to Syd Barrett)!! I'll visit again soon!!

All I have to say is Pink Floyd isn't music, but the best artform in the world. They made art, not music. Blending together instruments in totally new and mystical way. I love Pink Floyd, As I have since I was thirteen, and I think the world had see n no better a band. Two of my favorite tunes by them are Atomic Mother Heart, and See Emily Play. The later incited alot of controversy. That just proves my point. I have never heard anything as sweet as this band in all my years on planet Earth. If anyone wishes to talk with me about Pink Floyd, I encourage them to e-mail me. I now have to go. Its time to Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun.
